Grade Level: 3-6
Keywords: chance, Literature, predictions, probability, Statistics, Technology
School Subject(s): Math, Statistics
This unit is designed for students in grades 3-5. Statistics and probability are often areas
in many math curricula that are minimally covered and not taught at a rigorous level.
These lessons provide rigorous, engaging instruction to make probability applicable and
pertinent for students. Students will learn basic statistical vocabulary and perform
experiments to determine experimental probability compared with theoretical probability.
The teacher will incorporate literature, technology, and hands-on manipulatives to
provide grade appropriate instruction to all students. Students will make predictions,
perform experiments, and gather and examine data to make statistics and probability
come alive and become relevant.
