Cancer is a deadly disease that impacts almost everyone in some sort of way. However, it is very difficult for students of younger ages to truly under-stand what cancer is and how it affects not only the people who have it but also those around them. Due to these difficulties, creating a lesson that fo-cusses on the ways we can help our family and friends affected by the dis-ease could help introduce them to cancer. This lesson creates a service-learning project for students. Students will get an overview of what cancer is and if they have ever heard of it before. Students will then be presented with potential problems that cancer can bring. Students will create a list of how they feel they can assist in helping.
