TIP Showcase for USA 250 Workshops September 29, 2025
This fall, TIP will collaborate with the Penn Press and Penn GSE to offer a special set of workshops on Philadelphia History in preparation for the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. These workshops will be led by authors of the Encyclopedia of Greater Philadelphia, a resource the Penn Press is distributing free to schools in the School District of Philadelphia.
To celebrate the work of TIP Students and Fellows, a showcase was held along with Penn Press and Penn GSE on September 18th, 2025. The showcase featured presentations from each of the USA 250 Workshop leaders, as well as School District of Philadelphia teachers, TIP Fellows, and their students.
During this showcase event, participants had the opportunity to learn about the projects members of the TIP community have worked on, meet workshop leaders, and hear about what TIP, Penn Press, and Penn GSE have in store for the USA 250 Celebration. Throughout the presentations, viewers were able to see TIP Fellows’ work come to life through their students. The showcase featured two students—Saw Thdar from Francis Scott Key School and Phil Schley from Hill-Freedman World Academy—who presented projects based on what they learned from subjects taught by teachers who had completed TIP workshops.
